Dedicated to giving the finest in Ophthalmic and Refractive Surgery Care.

Lasik is designed to treat Myopia, Astigmatism and Hyperopia. Lasik is performed by creating a microscopic flap of tissue in the front of the cornea and treating  the underlying tissue with a laser to reshape and change the focus. Lasik has been successfully performed on many thousands of patients throughout the world for several years.

Key Benefits

Reduced dependence on Glasses and Contact lenses: Many patients function  very well for most tasks without eyewear after Lasik surgery, however, you  may require reading or night driving glasses to "fine tune" your  vision for some tasks.

Rapid Visual Recovery: Visual acuity can be greatly improved as early as  one day post-op, but can take up to three months to stabilize.

Risks / Alternatives

As with any operative procedure, there are risks to Lasik Surgery.  These can include, but are not limited to:

Glare or Halos
This is the #1 reported side affect of any Refractive Procedure. the  symptoms have been described as being similar to those reported by  Contact lens wearers. The symptoms of Glare or Halos may or may not  reduce over time. Fluctuation of Vision
Some patients report that their vision fluctuates either on a  "day to day" basis or sometimes throughout the day. These  symptoms, too may or may not diminish with time. Overcorrection / Undercorrection
Occasionally after Lasik a patient will be either Over-corrected or  Under-corrected. Usually, once their vision has been stabilized an  additional procedure can be performed to correct this problem.

These are just a few of the potential risks with Refractive Surgery of  all kinds. A thorough examination and detailed consultation is required  prior to any surgery to  fully inform you of the risks, benefits and  alternatives for YOUR EYES.
